A Corridor Of
Stone And Scarlet
The Momijidani Path follows a stone-paved walkway through a narrow forest valley, where maples lean in from both sides to form a canopy of deep red and burning orange overhead. Underfoot, worn stone slabs — some centuries old — lead you gently downhill through dappled shade, past moss-softened boulders and the quiet murmur of a hidden stream.
It is one of the calmer approaches into the Ikarashi forest, sheltered from wind and traffic alike, and it rewards a slow, unhurried pace more than almost any other route on the mountain.
Seasonal Highlight · 見頃
Best In Mid-To-Late
November
The valley reaches its deepest color from mid-to-late November, when overlapping layers of red and orange settle across the slopes on either side of the path. Midway along the route, a weathered stone lantern marks a natural resting point — a good place to pause, breathe, and let the canopy filter the afternoon light.
The terrain here is gentle by mountain standards: a mostly level stone path with a few shallow steps, making it comfortable for most walkers, including families and those new to forest trails.
